The Indian trade blankets were perfect for covering exposed legs when riding on a wagon, sleigh or buggy, and in the new horseless carriages. Later on, they became popular as throws for camping, canoeing and a new pass time called motoring.
Polyester filled dorm comforters usually use a 'batted' material which is a bonded layer of polyester that is then sewn sandwiched between the decorative fabrics. These comforters can be washed and dried but usually experience ripped seams or pilled fabric before the end of the year. The best recommendation for this bedding is to use it, enjoy it and throw it away at the end of the school year. Because most students live in the dorms for 1.5 years this may or may not be a worthwhile strategy. These type comforters are also not very helpful for keeping college students warm in the dead of winter. Students often pile on a couple articles of bedding to keep warm.
Now, more than ever before teen bedding and teen girl's room dcor are more popular. Teens are now asking for their bedrooms to reflect a little bit about themselves. Last year, teenagers and teens spent an average of $386 to decorate their rooms -- more than double the figure of a decade ago, according to the Wonder Group, a youth-marketing company in Cincinnati. Now more than ever teens have more say over their teen bedding and teen room dcor choices.
As women became more interested in interior design in the early 1900's, southwest decor and western designs rose in popularity. These "Indian blankets" were sought after by people across the country who used them for southwest bedding. Today, southwest bedspreads still make great decorative couch or chair covers to accent rustic home decor.
